11/9 @
Creighton L 62-74
-Blew a 20-4 lead to start the game
11/17
Northwestern W 54-53
-Ugly win against a bad team
11/24 N.C. A&T L
93-96
-The mighty Mid Eastern Conference
11/28 Texas A&M
C.C. W 85-70
-Lucky it was not A&M without the C.C.
12/8 @ Kansas L
66-84
-Another loss to a team with a Chicago player
12/12 Vanderbilt
L 85-91
-Blew an 18 point lead with 4:45 left
12/15 Ill.
Chicago L 80-85
-Is UIC the best team in Chicago area?
12/20 @
Mississippi L 63-69
-Was Wainwright game planning in Puerto Rico or
tanning on the beach?
12/21 @ Clemson
L 74-90
-An expected loss, and of course they didn’t even
cover the spread.
12/22 @ La Salle
W 93-88
-Blew a 16 point first half lead, and barely held on
to win against a terrible La Salle team whose most
recent win was against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
12/29 @ Detroit
W 70-64
-Demons hang on to beat Detroit. Is there really
anything to be proud about with this win?
1/3 Villanova W 84-76
-An impressive win. The lone bright spot in what
has been a dismal season thus far.
1/5 Providence W 70-65
-Demons hold off Providence rally and hang on to
continue their winning streak. Streak will be
ending Tuesday though.
1/8 Georgetown L 76-60
-Yeah Jerry, Wesley Green can cover Roy Hibbert
one-on-one. That wise decision and many others
helped Georgetown score the first 11 points and end
up routing the Demons.
1/12 @ St.
Johns W 60-54
-Dar Tucker leads the Demons on a huge second half
run sparking the victory. Jerry will continue to
leave him on the bench in crucial situations in the
future.
1/16 @
Villanova L 76-69
-This time its Villanova who goes on a late 15-0 run
rallying to victory. How does a coach allow a 15-0
run?
1/19 Rutgers
W 75-73
-A pretty wild game between two very average teams.
The home team was going to win this one, and DePaul
happened to be at home.
1/21 Fla Gulf
Coast W 92-60
-Why even schedule this game? Does a Big East team
really need this little confidence boost during
conference play? There’s no positives here, it was
Fla Gulf Coast.
1/26 @
Marquette L 79-71
-Demons just can’t win the big game. That’s the
sign of an average team. Marquette started ice
cold. DePaul wasn’t in the game in the second half.
1/30
Syracuse L 60-55
-The Demons can’t execute down the stretch and lose
at home.
2/2 @ Notre
Dame L 89-80
-For some reason, Jerry goes with Wes Green to run
up and down the floor with Luke Harangody.
Obviously, Green can't keep up with him and
Harangody goes for 29 points and 14 rebounds in
another Big East loss.
2/5 @
Providence L 79-65
-Same old story, DePaul takes early lead but can't
hold on and the interior defense stinks again
against a bad Big East team. Not only do they lose,
but they watch Randall Hanke score 21 points on
8-of-13 shooting. Waingwright stays with Wes Green
despite six turnovers
from the big man. DePaul gets outscored 51-30 in the
second half.
2/9 South
Florida W 69-61
-Jerry and the boys get a win against a bad South
Florida team at home. DePaul trailed most of the
first half, but freshman Dar Tucker came off the
bench and scored 11 points in the half to get the
Demons back in the game. In the second half,
Wainwright rewards the freshman with one minute of
playing time. It doesn't look like Jerry cares too
much about the future.
2/12
Louisville L 88-68
-This one was a disaster.
Louisville shoots 62.5 percent in the second
half. No interior defense again, David Padgett
scored 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting as
Louisville
defeated DePaul by 20 points at home. Bright spot,
Freshman Dar Tucker scored 22 points. At 5-7 in the
conference, Jerry might miss his second Big East
tournament in three years.
2/19 @
Connecticut L 65-60
- You will like this one if you're into moral
victories. DePaul managed to build a 13-point lead
on the road to No. 13
Connecticut,
but somehow can't hang on. We saw this against
Creighton, North Carolina A&T, Vanderbilt, UIC,
Villanova,
Marquette and
now this. The fact is, Jerry and the boys have lost
six of its last seven Big East games and the
conference tournament is in jeopardy again. We saw
Wes Green jacking up another bad three-pointer in
the last two minutes and the interior defense was
awful again. Hasheem Thabeet led the Huskies with
16 points, eight blocks and 13 rebounds.
2/23 @ Seton
Hall L 73-71
- Another opposing player had a career-high against
DePaul. This time it was Brian Laing, who went off
for 22 points and made a career-high five
three-pointers. In the final minute of the game tied
at 71, Cliff Clinkscales was covering Laing in the
paint. Laing took advantage of his 6-5 frame and
backed Clinkscales down in the lane to hit the
jumper. DePaul had a foul to give but Clinkscales
and the coaching was not aware. A similar situation
happened earlier in the season when Syracuse's Paul
Harris backed Clinkscales down for a late bucket,
but apparently the Blue Demons didn't learn. With
four games remaining, DePaul has lost seven of its
last eight games and are fighting St. John's and
Providence
for the last spot in the Big East tournament.
2/27 West
Virginia L 85-73
-22-0 run, 4-for-16 from the free throw line in the
first half, where do we begin? It was an absolute
disaster for Jerry and the boys. The only positive
of the night was when Jerry was boo'd in the
introductions. Does this team have a pulse? DePaul
has just as much as talent as West Virginia but
obviously it is not showing. Enough said.
3/2 Notre
Dame L 98-91
-After a brutal defensive performance against West
Virginia it somehow got worse against Notre Dame.
The loss puts them in 13th place in the Big East
with two games remaining and only the top 12 teams
getting in. It doesn't look likely that Jerry will
be packing for New York for the second time in three
years with games at Cincinnati and Pittsburgh
remaining
3/6 @
Cincinnati W 60-54
- Well Jerry and the boys pulled one out for their
second win in 11 games by beating a mediocre
Cincinnati program.
The Bearcats (13-16) have lost four straight games
so this win shouldn't be much of a selling point
even though Jerry will try to spin it that way.
3/9 @
Pittsburgh L 98-79
-They needed a win to get in the conference
tournament and of course they got blown out by 19
points at Pittsburgh
and the season is already over. But this is exactly
what we expected. Jerry has guided three of his last
four squads to sub .500 records and failed to make
the Big East tournament for the second time in three
years. Jerry's team finished with 19 losses, it's
only the third time in school history where the
program has lost 19 or more games in one season.
Jerry may be a great person, but is he the right
coach for the program?

East Tournament
